You cannot change how someone thinks, but you can give them a tool to use which will lead them to think different.

I find it useful to think different. This has allowed me to solve
problems in novel ways as well as realize that some problems don't
actually exist!
I'm not sure that is how Fuller meant it but I think that the best
tools for thinking different are other people! Some people think in a
way which seems weird to most of us. They help me break my intellectual
habits which has been extremely valuable for me and those I care about.
Below some such people:
- Kevin Kelly has shown me that it is possible to have adventures with kids.
- Derek Sivers has shown me that it is possible to not care about money even when you have some. He has also shown me that sometimes the best philanthropy you can do is share your ideas widely, simply and cheaply.
- Luis Diaz's thinking showed me that often problems have already been solved. Looking for a new solution is often to the detriment of yourself, others and the environment.
- Stewart Brand has such courage in his thinking that it makes me wonder if it is him who is being courageous or I who is fast asleep.
